The “Heritage Builders” history program of the Olympia Tumwater Foundation offers free guided tours of the 1904 Schmidt House in Tumwater. These 90-minute tours are led by Bob Crim, who for 60 years has been the caretaker of the house and grounds. His stories captivate visitors, leading them through the three top levels of the house, the treasures of the basement archives, and special surprises at the end that the general public doesn’t get to see.

The regular tour schedule includes the public tours on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 11:00 a.m. and special group tours available by appointment. The tours are designed for 8-20 people and require the ability to negotiate stairways.

Donations are gratefully accepted to help keep this popular program going. Doors open at 10:45. Please call ahead (360) 786-8117 or email: history@olytumfoundation.org to reserve a spot or to set up a special customized group tour date and time.
