The Oregon Trail played a pivotal role in the founding of Tumwater. Ezra Meeker traveled that trail as a young man and later retraced the trail in his old age. On Thursday, June 14, author, researcher and Meeker expert Dennis Larsen will talk about Meeker’s adventures as part of the Schmidt House History Talks series.

Larsen is Meeker’s official biographer and has written and talked extensively about his favorite subject—Ezra Meeker. Larsen is a retired Yelm High School history teacher, and is the author of five books. In addition to his books, he has authored numerous articles about Northwest pioneers that have appeared in various journals. He is a member of the Oregon-California Trails Association, the Tumwater Historical Association and the Puyallup Historical Society at the Meeker Mansion.
