Schmidt House history lectures and tours canceled until further notice…

Out of an abundance of caution and the guidance issued by medical and governmental officials regarding the Covid 19 virus threat, the “Heritage Builders” local history programs at the Schmidt House in Tumwater are being canceled until further notice.  This includes our popular noon history talk series for the remainder of the season through June, and our guided monthly Schmidt House Tours with Bob Crim.  These free talks and tours have brought a tremendous response from visitors in the closer quarters of this historic house. We are certain that most folks will understand our caution with this decision and are disappointed that this has had to take place.

We at the Olympia Tumwater Foundation will keep in touch through emails, press releases, Facebook postings, and other methods to bring you news of any changes in the situation and our strategies to deal with it. Think of us as we begin to come out of this situation and start to work on re-scheduling the talks, tours, and events. It will be a challenge, but Tumwater has a great history of taking negatives and turning them into positives. We will press on and are very grateful to the many people who have encouraged us with their support for our programs. Thank You! Don Trosper, Public History Manager Olympia Tumwater Foundation “Heritage Builders” program 360-786-8117 (or history@olytumfoundation.org)
