Features of the Schmidt House & Property

The Schmidt House is the perfect place for private events such as meetings, weddings, etc. The grounds surrounding the house feature the large lawn in front and around the house, walking paths, the Centennial Rose Garden, the memorial to the house’s original owners, a maintained small fountain pool, and ample parking. The house itself has a kitchen, multiple bathrooms, large dining rooms, and more. Come tour the house in a free guided tour, or walk the grounds which are open daily during daylight hours!

Schmidt House Rental Information

Rental Pricing:

$2,500 USD, up to 8 hours.

$200 each additional hour.

$400 each additional hour past midnight.

Included in Rental Price:

21 Round folding tables: 46” diameter – seats up to six each (Total=126 people)

11 72″ long folding tables (seats up to eight) 1 48″ long folding tables

148 White folding chairs

45 Cloth chairs

60 Plastic/metal chairs

1 Residential stove (4-burner) with oven

1 Residential refrigerator / freezer

8 Cocktail tables 30″ diameter, convert from 28″ high for seating to 40″ high for standing

1 Private bridal room (2nd floor)

1 Private groom room (2nd floor)

Mandatory Charges

Cleaning fee – $150-$250 non-refundable, $150 for fewer than 150 guests, $250 for 150 guests or more.

Damage deposit – $250, refundable.

Rental Fee – $2,500 for 8 hours – does not include services. Each hour additional is $200 per hour. Each hour additional after midnight is $400 per hour.

Optional Services At An Additional Charge

Rehearsal fee (subject to availability) – $250, up to 3 hours.

Set-up service – chairs & tables moved to desired location one time for $150. If moved twice, or if there are 150 or more guests, the service is $200.

Tear-down service – $150 if fewer than 150 guests, if 150 guests or more, service is $200.

Alcohol fee (if served) – $75.

Schmidt House Hours

The grounds including the exterior of the home and the Centennial Rose Garden are open daily during daylight hours.

Private guided tours of the interior of the Schmidt House are available upon request with our curator. We also offer regularly scheduled public house tours every other week. Inquiries may be made via phone at (360) 890-2299, or email at kjohnson@olytumfoundation.org

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the house ADA accessible?

Yes and no. An ADA-accessible bathroom as well as a lift to the first floor are available. The basement, second, and third floors remain accessible only to those who can climb stairs. 

Can I use my choice of caterer for my event?

Yes!

How can I view the space before renting for an event?

Call (360) 890-2299 or email kjohnson@olytumfoundation.org to schedule a private tour, or register for a public house tour. They are regularly held bi-weekly for free, and registration can be found below. We also offer a virtual Schmidt House tour for those who cannot visit the house in person!

Directions to the Schmidt House

Southbound:

I-5 South / Take 2nd Avenue Exit 103 / At stop sign go straight / At light take left onto Custer Way / Take first left onto Schmidt Place. The Schmidt House is straight ahead behind the iron fence. Parking is to the right of the home.

Northbound:

I-5 North / Take Deschutes Way Exit 103 / Turn right onto Deschutes Way / At light turn left onto Capitol Boulevard / At light turn left onto Custer Way / Take first right onto Schmidt Place. The Schmidt House is straight ahead behind the iron fence. Parking is to the right of the home.
