Join us for another great free history talk on Thursday, January 2nd — our first talk of the new year!
About History Talks
Join us in Tumwater at noon on the first Thursday of each month for an hour-long history talk. We’ll feature captivating programs on social history or natural history, each presented by a recognized expert.
Jill Severn will discuss how gardening—both vegetable and ornamental—has evolved in the past hundred-plus years, and how wars, economic and cultural change, and the search for sustainability have affected what and how we grow—and perhaps most importantly, why we garden. Severn is a semi-retired journalist, legislative policy analyst, and speechwriter. She has been a member of The Olympian Editorial Board, and writes a weekly gardening column in The JOLT News, a local online publication.
