History Talks at the Schmidt House: Winter Waterfowl

January 7, 2027 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Thursday, January 7, 2027 | Noon

Winter is one of the best times to go birdwatching in the Pacific Northwest! As migratory waterfowl arrive in our region, local waterways and wetlands become prime spots to observe a remarkable variety of birds.

Join the Olympia Tumwater Foundation for an engaging presentation by George Walter, environmental program manager, longtime birder, and author of Thurston’s Birds, a weekly column in The JOLT.

George will introduce some of the beautiful waterfowl that spend their winters in Thurston County, share tips on where to find them, and illustrate his talk with stunning photographs of local birds.

Join us at the historic Schmidt House to discover the beauty of our winter waterfowl and learn where to spot these seasonal visitors.
