Public Art Opportunity at Brewery Park at Tumwater Falls

Request for Qualifications (RFQ)

The Olympia Tumwater Foundation, in partnership with the City of Tumwater, is seeking artists or artist teams to create a new public art installation at Brewery Park at Tumwater Falls.

This is an opportunity to design a free-standing welcome structure that will greet visitors as they begin their experience in the park—one of the most iconic and beloved spaces in our community.

About the Project

We are looking for a piece that serves as both a visual landmark and a meaningful introduction to the park. The artwork will be installed outdoors year-round and should be durable, engaging, and reflective of the surrounding environment.

The structure could take many forms, including:

  • An archway
  • A sculpture
  • A creative interpretation of a “welcome” feature

Project Budget

  • $25,000 total, inclusive of:
    • Design
    • Fabrication
    • Installation
    • Taxes

Creative Direction

We encourage artists to draw inspiration from the unique character of Brewery Park and the broader Tumwater community. Possible themes include:

  • The natural beauty of the park
  • A sense of belonging and inclusivity
  • A place of respite and reflection
  • A portal into the region’s history
  • Honoring the Squaxin Island Tribe’s presence since time immemorial

Who Should Apply
