River Walk Tours

Take a River Walk Tour at Tumwater Falls

Brewery Park at Tumwater Falls is pleased to host River Walk Tours. These walks along the river are free and open to all.

Don Trosper is hosting our History Tours this year. In these walks Don tells us about early Tumwater History and the first settlers in the area.

The tours are led the first and third Tuesdays of the month and begin at 5pm. This year’s dates: April 7, April 21, May 5, May 19, June 9, June 23, July 7, July 21, Aug 4, Aug 18, Sep 8 and Sep 22

And new for 2026 Carrie Smith will be doing Native Plant talks and Grant Gilmore will be doing talks on natural history of the Deschutes River.
 
Carrie’s dates are: June 1st at 5pm, July 18th at 10am and August 12th at 5pm. 
 
Grant’s dates are:  July 11tj at 3pm, August 22nd at 3pm and September 19th at 3pm.
 
 
Carrie Smith is a graduate candidate within the Master of Environmental Studies program at the Evergreen State College and a graduate of the Washington Native Plant Society’s native plant steward program. She/they will be leading a walk to discuss the Native Plant Garden and other native species within the Park.
 
 
Grant serves as the Water Resources Specialist for the City of Tumwater. His role focuses on water quality, water resources, stormwater, long-term sustainability and restoring habitat within and around the Deschutes Watershed. Grant is a certified commercial diver, marine scientist, wetland biologist, ecologist and has a passion for all things nature.  Grant has a keen passion for bringing hands-on science opportunities and behavior change campaigns to community members within our region in hopes we all work towards protecting our valuable natural resources.
