History Talks at the Schmidt House: The Fourteen Forgotten Presidents

February 4, 2027 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Thursday, February 4, 2027 | Noon

Was George Washington really America’s first president? The answer may surprise you!

Before Washington took office in 1789, fourteen men served as presiding officers of the Continental and Confederation Congresses, helping guide the emerging nation through its earliest years.

Join the Olympia Tumwater Foundation for a fascinating look at these often-overlooked figures in American history. Art Dolan of the Sons of the American Revolution will deliver a fast-paced presentation exploring the leaders who served between 1774 and 1789, their contributions to the founding of the United States, and the roles they played in shaping the nation’s future.

Although these early leaders did not hold the same presidential office established under the U.S. Constitution, their leadership laid the groundwork for the government we know today.

Join us at the historic Schmidt House to discover the stories of fourteen forgotten leaders and their place in America’s founding history.
